100 IDEAS FOR LESSON PLANNING

This book covers both planning and aspects of lesson preparation (creating resources, for example Planning gives you something you can communicate - to pupils ('In this lesson you will learn . . .') and to colleagues, especially support staff.

The provision of teaching assistants is a major item in most schools' budget, yet some teachers fail to make best use of them by not explaining lessons beforehand.

Lack of planning wastes, and demotivates, support staff.

The most important point, however, is that lesson planning enables you to optimize things.

Without planning, you may find you're able to get by or even produce an adequate lesson, but you'll not be teaching with maximum effect.

When planning lessons, therefore, ask yourself not 'What can I teach them?' but 'What's the best thing I can teach them?', not 'How can I teach this?' but 'What's the best way I can teach it?'

100 TESOL ACTIVITIES FOR TEACHERS

Practical ESL/EFL activities for the communicative classroom

THIS MANUAL IS INTENDED to help give prospective and current Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) some of the most common TESOL techniques and strategies recognized and used in the field.

The manual is intended to be practical, and these techniques, for the most part, follow the general need to communicate, interact, and make language come alive in the classroom.

Thus, it would be appropriate to state that this manual is aligned most closely to the communicative approach. This is not intended as a pedagogical handbook nor does it attempt a discussion of research-based activities, rather, it simply highlights common practices in the current TESOL classroom.
